California Highway Patrol Test Tips

California Highway Patrol Test Tips

A major component of the California Highway Patrol written test involves Reading Comprehension. Essentially, this part of the test measures your ability to read passages, comprehend the “message” inherent in the passage, and identify correct statements regarding the information held in each passage.

You will be facing multiple choice answers again and again, it is vital that you maintain your focus and concentration on each task at hand.  Fortunately, reading comprehension is a skill you can learn and develop into a precise process with enough practice — and the best way to do this is through practice tests.

Practice tests can be found with study guides in the law enforcement training fields, but also in a number of other professional fields, such as the hard sciences.  For your purposes, specific reading comprehension practice tests will help you hone your information gathering and identifying skills.  The idea is to teach yourself to absorb information you read in a structured way, so that it can be easily identified for different purposes later.

When tackling the reading comprehension portion of the California Highway Patrol written test, keep three things in mind:
1. Stick to the reading comprehension process you’ve been using in practice.  Do not break your training habits in a test environment.  You will lose time, lose focus, and may lose your shot at a CHP career.

2. Base your answer choices only on the information in the passage.  Do not allow personal knowledge or opinions to influence your correct answer choice.

3. Stay focused on each step of your comprehension process.  Do not get hung up on information that does not relate to the test question.  Do not make assumptions or draw conclusions that are not supported by the facts presented in the test passage.

Reading comprehension can be ruined by over-thinking information — the best process is the simplest and is usually tempered with common sense.

The final portion of the California Highway Patrol written test is the Cloze Reading test.  This test measures how well you can read – period.  Each test passage contains missing words that are indicated by dashes.  Each dash represents a letter in the missing word.  Your task is to complete the sentences by supplying the missing words from your own vocabulary.

The Cloze Reading test does not have multiple choice answers.  Your only “hints” are from the passage content preceding and following the missing word sentences.

There are two study actions you can take to support your efforts in this portion of the California Highway Patrol written test:
1. Find and take practice Cloze tests — repeat these tests — even when the correct words come easily, to reinforce your identification processes and acclimate your mind to the idea of interjecting words to complete sentences.

2. Pick up a book of word games where the object of the word puzzle is to fill in missing words.  While this form of practice doesn’t use law enforcement events or terminology, it does force you to accept the process of completing written text by supplying missing words.

An additional factor in the Cloze test is the procedure for coding your answers.  This is where a practice test is extremely useful, as the procedure is multi-step and offers opportunities to throw your correct answer out the window through incorrect coding.

For numerous people, a family holiday is explained as a tour to Disneyland or Disney World. At the present time you can chart out your trip, and get plenty of useful information, at home with just a click of a mouse.

Despite the fact that it is much smaller than Orlando’s Walt Disney World, Disneyland California has a unique place in the Disney pantheon as the abode of the creative Magic Kingdom ,the classic theme park with Adventureland, Fantasyland, etc. that come into sight also at Disney World in Orlando, and at other Disneylands in the whole world. This theme park — called the Disneyland Park– is at the moment only part of the Disneyland Resort; in 2001, a subsequent theme park was commenced, the 55-acre Disney’s California Adventure Park, that is going through an enormous reconstruction. Families should sketch a tour minimum of two days, to visit both the parks peacefully and without panicing the whole thing.

For its succeeding park, Disneyland could have pinched inspiration from Walt Disney World and vanished with an idea tried and true such as Epcot in fact, there were preparations at one time to build up a park called “Westcot” or, given its closeness to Hollywood, Disney-MGM Studios as the company has finished with its second Paris park. As a substitute, Disney tried something audicious and evolved an completely new park based on California–the state and the state of mind.

Nevertheless, the company failed to remember something extremely important as it was scheming DCA: places of attraction. With about one-third the number of rides and shows at Disneyland Park, there is not as much to do here. And an astonishing number of the park’s rides are off-the-shelf rotating and whirling rides. Initially, numerous of the attractions did not catch the attention of the young children. With the opening of the Bug’s Land area, it has changed for the better.

For all of its inadequacy however, DCA does have some grand magnetism and pulls and of course great and amazing themes. And with trimmings such as the Tower of Terror and the Aladdin stage show, it is developing and growing in the right direction. Highlights
